There are two things that are well known and loved in my home, coffee and adoption. To put the two together for one great cause is even better!

Boise couple, Jeff and Ashley Larsen, came up with an idea three years ago when they traveled to Ethiopia to adopt their son. They had a vision to impact the community locally and overseas, raising money for charities that work with women and children, while spreading awareness and hope through a gourmet, locally-brewed cup of coffee.

Over the weekend, their dream became a reality as Awakenings Coffee House on Overland celebrated their Grand Opening.

The Larsens adoption opened up their eyes to a world of domestic abuse and the pain and suffering it brings. They decided to donate the proceeds from the specialty coffee, Relic, to the orphanage where their son lived as well as a local organization called Safe Place Ministries in Boise. If you enjoy specialty coffee and giving back to the community, this is a great place to start!
I love their message and hope that it inspires people to learn about issues that they may not be familiar with and find a way to help and support.
