Britney Spears taught me there are two types of people in the world: "The ones that entertain and the ones that observe." And the one thing in this world where both come together is karaoke. Personally I am the entertainer. I can't sing, but I can perform the hell out of song and everyone watching has an absolute blast with it. But where best to showcase this (amazing?) skill in the Treasure Valley?

Voicebox in Downtown Boise briefly opened during the pandemic and I got to spend one glorious night with my coworkers going through my tried and true list of songs. But it's back to being temporarily closed because Covid-19 and there's actually a ton of construction going on around it that it would be difficult to open anyway. But there are a few spots in the Treasure Valley that locals turn to for a fun night of off-key drunken singing.

White Water Saloon in Meridian has your karaoke needs covered every Friday and Saturday. "We class it dooowwwnnn at White Water Saloon," according to one patron and that's what I like to hear. The point is to have a fun time, not a hoity toity time. With a 4 star Google rating, it's a dive bar not to miss.

But Terry's State St Saloon is the real gem. Karaoke lovers can partake in the Japanese art 7 nights a week from 9pm - close at Terry's. Google has it rated at 4.3 stars with most reviews mentioning the great karaoke and that the alcoholic beverages are strong. Strong alcohol = Great karaoke. I don't make the rules. I just follow them. And that fact makes it unsurprising that it's such a favorite. My free nights are Wednesdays and Thursdays, so it's magical there's a place that caters to that. We don't all have weekend nights available! Catch me next Thursday performing Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart."
