Everyone in the Treasure Valley is well aware of the fact that the area we call home is growing very quickly right now. The Idaho Transportation Department is trying to keep up with the rapid growth which includes a project to make I-84 wider in Canyon County over the next several years. To make this project happen the IDT will be shutting down the Karcher Road Overpass in Nampa.

The information was first presented by KIVI, and details the plan in which the Overpass gets shut down on Tuesday (March 12th). Also, on  Friday, March 15th I-84 Eastbound will be closed so crews can remove the overpass. The detour will be from 10 p.m. Friday night until 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

The Westbound lanes of I-84 will be detoured 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16th until 7 a.m. on Sunday, March 17th. There will also be single lane restrictions in place from March 12th until the 22nd. All lanes will be open during the day. Access to all businesses on Karcher Road will be open.

The project to make I-84 wider is expected to start early this summer.
