12 New Earthquakes Reported in Idaho Near Yellowstone National Park

Earthquakes are common around the world and constantly happen. Some are large and destructive, while most are small-scale and go unnoticed.

But when there is a sudden burst of earthquakes near a location that has been speculated to be a potential super volcano, it grabs our attention.

A Sign of Something Bigger Coming? Recent Burst of Earthquakes Near Yellowstone National Park

Some people believe that the Yellowstone Caldera is a time bomb that is just a few earthquakes away from exploding. When that happens, it could be devastating to anyone and anything in the blast radius. A simulation of what would happen with the Yellowstone Super Volcano was posted online, and the destruction would reach hundreds of miles away and kill an estimated 90,000 people.

Most of the recent earthquakes in Idaho near Yellowstone, and even the ones in Yellowstone National Park, have been small enough that they weren’t felt by anyone. We only know about them due to reports from sensitive equipment.

Still, even 12 small earthquakes near the National Park, the largest of which was a 3.9 magnitude, and around a dozen more in the park, it scares us. Especially since I checked the reports a week ago and there were zero earthquakes on the list in our area.
