WARNING: Suspect In Idaho Sex Trafficking Case Is On The Loose
Thanks to incredible police work, authorities are one step closer to shutting down a sex trafficking ring in Idaho.
Police Have One Suspect In Custody
On October 15th, Boise police announced they rescued a missing 16-year-old Boise girl down in Houston, Texas.
According to a press release from the city, Boise police received a call about a missing teen on October 10th and based on the information they received, it initially appeared to be a runaway case.
Eventually, authorities obtained information revealing the teen had traveled through "eastern Idaho, to Utah, and eventually to Texas." According to the press release:
Boise Police SVU detectives partnered with the Houston Police Department’s Human Trafficking Unit to continue to search for the teen victim. On October 14, 2024, she was located at a residence in Houston along with a 24-year-old suspect, Ruben D. Visquerra Aguilar. Detectives worked with the Ada County Prosecutor's office to obtain a warrant and Visquerra Aguilar was taken into custody.
While it's great news that police were able to get someone in custody, their investigation revealed another essential detail.
Following further investigation, evidence showed that another unknown individual assisted in transporting the victim to Houston. That investigation remains ongoing.
It's unsettling to think that the unknown person/suspect responsible for transporting a teen to Texas is still on the loose... and maybe even still in Idaho "looking for work."
It's an important reminder to talk to your kids about the dangers of meeting someone online, especially with how easy it is to connect with strangers on social media.
