The search has continued and police and authorities have received over a thousand calls and potential tips at this point. It has taken a lot of time and people to sort out the tips and leads and see what is viable and what is not. Little Michael Joseph Vaughan went missing near his home in Fruitland Oregon on July 27th, 2021, just 3 days after his 6th birthday. Police have narrowed the disappearance time down to a 20 minute window between 6:40pm and 7pm.

Michaels dad was in the back room with Michaels sister on the phone ordering a pizza and when he went back out Michael was no where to be found. Michael's nickname is 'monkey' and the family is still hopeful that the little guy will be found and return home. Fruitland Police Department along with other law enforcement agencies held a press conference on Friday and reinforced that the investigation into Michael's disappearance is criminal with probability of an abduction.

As they have continued to investigate over the past year, Fruitland area police now have a few people that were in the area at the time of the potential abduction that they are trying to identify and talk to. Fruitland Police Chief J.D Huff in the press conference said, "The man seen walking through the area of the splash pad of Crestview Park, leading up to the time of Michael's disappearance, he's not come forward, and he has not been identified. So the man is described as a white male adult late 20s, early 30s, seen wearing black shorts, a white t-shirt with cut off sleeves, dark colored shoes and a hat. So I need to make it perfectly clear that he is not a suspect, but we need to talk to him so we can determine his whereabouts to see if he witnessed anything that would be helpful in this investigation."

KATV also notes the other person that police would like to talk with, "Police have yet to identify the driver of a white Honda Pilot seen leaving the area of SW 8th Street at around 6:47 p.m. on July 27. Huff said they believe the person is a resident of the area and they would like to speak with them for more information."
