Monthly Utilities Can Be a Pain But Idaho’s Averages Aren’t That Bad…

Paying monthly utilities is annoying to say the least, but when you compare Idaho to other states, at least our average costs aren’t as bad.

A recent article from Cheapism says...

“If you’re feeling the pinch on your utility bills, you’re not alone, and you aren’t imagining it. The U.S. Energy Information Administration predicted in November that “compared with last winter’s heating costs, U.S. households will spend 54% more for propane, 43% more for heating oil, 30% more for natural gas, and 6% more for electric heating. U.S. households will spend even more if the weather is colder than expected.”

Yikes, so our regular bills are definitely rising in cost, but Cheapism asks, “Are your bills higher than the average household in the state?” They said the U.S. average is DoxoInsights provided a detailed analysis of utility bill costs from last year from more than 6 million consumers (putting the U.S. average at $316 a month) so you can find out.”

Thankfully, Idaho’s average monthly utility cost appears to be less than the U.S. average for $316 per month.

Idaho’s Average Monthly Utility Cost is $306 per month.

Here’s what Cheapism had to say about Idaho...

“According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, last year 76% of the electricity generated in Idaho “at utility-scale power plants was produced from renewable energy sources.” A whopping 56% of power generation in 2019 came from hydropower — and given its relatively low cost, savings are passed on to consumers, leading to lower-than-average utility bills. Natural gas consumption per capita also ranks in the bottom third of all states.”
