How To Keep Your Kids Safe Living in Boise

The Treasure Valley is one of the safest places you can raise a family, especially if you live in Boise. A huge reason for that is the diligence of our law enforcement but also, the tools that we have available to us to not just keep track of what our kids are up to... but what others are up to as well.

The group of people we're talking about are sex offenders.

Thanks to the Idaho State Police, there is a tool available for us to use to keep track of the sex offenders in our area.

We searched within a five-mile radius of our radio station here in Boise and found a couple of hundred sex offenders in our area.

Pretty frightening, right?

We decided to try another area and when we checked Meridian, there were another couple of hundred registered offenders within a five-mile radius of... the post office.

That might be unsettling to some but at least we have the tools to know where these people are registered. As we enter the second half of the school year, this tool can come in handy as our kiddos commute via school bus or in some cases, walking home.

Idaho State Police has a very important reminder for people to think about when using this made – knowing where the offenders are is intended to help us protect our children and not to harass or intimidate these offenders.
