Viral "Hack" at Chipotle

Not long ago, a "hack" about how to get a bigger serving at Chipotle went viral on TikTok. The hack has the customer place their order while recording Chipotle staff on video. The idea behind the hack is that it puts pressure on the employee to give a little extra in case the video gets posted.

There are differing opinions about the hack but many people are against it, saying it puts unnecessary pressure on the staff.

Chipotle responds to complaints about portion sizes

Chipotle seemingly caught wind of this viral hack and recently announced its plan to combat the portion issues that resulted in the hack in the first place.

According to NBC News, Chipotle's CEO Brian Niccol says they're focusing directly on coaching their staff about proper portion sizes, telling them to hook the customers up with "generous portions":

We are re-emphasizing training and coaching round ensuring we are consistently making bowls and burritos correct. We have also leaned in and re-emphasized generous portions across all of our restaurants, it is a core brand equity of Chipotle.

Chipotle did highlight the fact that "about 10% of restaurants" needed to be trained on portion sizes. Boise has multiple Chipotle locations and it remains to be seen if customers in the Treasure Valley are noticing bigger portions.

But, hey! At least this viral hack turned into a win for all of us, right?

Now, if they can just do something about charging extra for guac... does anyone have any "hacks" up their sleeve?
