One of Idaho's Gems is Hell's Canyon. I've taken the river rafting trips many time in the years growing up here. The beauty in unparalleled to any other place I've seen around the country in our travels. Now though Idaho Health officials are warning those visiting the site to watch out for toxic blue algae.Toxic blue algae has been found on the south side of the Hells Canyon Dam. Southwest District Health and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issued an alert Friday that blue-green algae species was found roughly 10 miles north of Oregon's Oxbow Dam to the Hells Canyon Dam.The algae that shows up in the water will potentially mess with those who drink or rub it in their eyes . Fish and Game is also suggesting that if you do catch any wildlife, like fish or animals near the water you thoroughly clean them out. And if you decide to consume them its suggested that only fillets are consumed.  Also if you have pets its best to keep them far from the water because of the toxic contents of that could end up making them very sick or even kill them.

Hells Canyon is one of the best rivers to experience in the US, and we sure are hoping that this issue gets cleaned up soon.
