If you're three years old and you've spent the entire summer playing with your older sisters, the first day of school is a rude awakening!

Big sisters pack up their backpacks, march out the door in their fancy new sneakers, brag about getting to see old friends and make new ones, and you're left behind with Mama.

Now what?

Finley is in 2nd Grade, and Kallan just started Kindergarten yesterday.  It was a big, fun, exciting day!  There were no nerves that I saw, and no tears.  Just eager anticipation to get this year going and break open those new school supplies.

Preschool starts in September for Piper and that will be two days a week, and she'll start kindergarten in 2017.  That's plenty of time to fill!  Plenty of time for Mama to run out of ideas for constructive bonding activities.

I gave Piper the choice to do anything she wanted to do on big sis's first day of school, and she picked going to this public spot to feed the ducks.  Awesome, because I waste nothing and I had a bunch of bread heels I needed to get rid of.  She sang, we talked, and she perfected her fast pitch for softball someday.

What are we going to do today?  Tomorrow?  The next day?  Who knows!  But finally, the third child has Mama all to herself.  She can speak without being interrupted, she can choose the movies she wants to watch without having to worry about getting out-voted, and there's nobody around to remind her that she's the youngest.  These next two years could totally rock.  I hope we can make the most of it.
