Abby Lee Miller Is Going to Jail for a Year and a Day
Abby Lee Miller has 45 days to report to prison.
Today (May 9), the Dance Moms star was formally sentenced to a year and a day in prison by a judge in Pittsburgh, according to Deadline. The sentencing comes a year and a half after the reality star was first indicted by a grand jury on over 20 counts of fraud.
Miller will also have to pay "a fine of $40,000 and a $120,000 judgment for the currency-reporting violation charge the feds hit her with last summer." She will have an additional two years of supervised release.
Prior to the sentencing, Miller entered a plea of guilty to "one count of concealing bankruptcy assets and one count of not reporting an international monetary transaction" in June of 2016.
Miller's main lawyer, Robert Ridge, reportedly said outside the courtroom that the defense has "no plans to appeal."
The indictment back in 2015 said that Miller "orchestrated a complex shell game to hide money in recent years following her 2010 Chapter 11 petition to reorganize her dance studio business."
As TMZ reports, she got off relatively "easy" in comparison to the maximum sentencing: "She could have gotten 5 years in prison and $5 mil in fines."
