You Won’t Want to Miss This Local Waffle Throwdown

It's been over a year since the opening of the Waffle Me Up shop in downtown Boise and our family has been in love since day one. The style of waffles served by owner Hector Garcia is unlike any in the Treasure Valley to date - Belgian liege style with sugar crystals that caramelize when the dough hits the waffle iron.

But Hector isn't the only person who knows how to serve up a good liege. Shane Matlock, born & raised in Nampa, has his own spin on the recipe which he used to open The Burgundian: Coffee & Waffles in Providence, Rhode Island. So here's the question: who does it best?

On Saturday, February 17, you can be the judge as Hector & Shane go head-to-head in an epic East Coast vs. West Coast Waffle Throwdown at Waffle Me Up. The event will take place from 8a.m.-4p.m. with the chefs churning out both savory and sweet waffles for purchase. Toppings featured on the waffles will represent each chef's respective region.

This event is a perfect chance to break your cabin fever and get your family out of the house for breakfast or brunch! Waffle Me Up is located at 204 N Capitol Boulevard.
