This story may not have quite the impact if it was coming from a video-game-playing dude in his twenties who spent most of his time on the couch eating chips.

But it's coming from a guy with big ambitions who heads a multi-billion dollar company, and is the second-richest person in the world behind Bill Gates.

Carlos Slim is saying we should only be working three days out of the week.  Great!  Now what's the catch?

Slim thinks we'd be more productive if we had four days off each week, to travel more, shop, eat, play, and spend more time with family and friends.  It's hard to argue with that.  In fact, that might be some of the best logic we've ever heard.

He also thinks we should work longer in our lives, and instead of trying to retire in our fifties or sixties, we should work well into our seventies.  He's in his mid-seventies and shows no signs of slowing down.  He owns a mining company, and his net worth is about $80 billion.  So much for that philosophy that we would quit our jobs if we struck it rich. Apparently the super smart ones don't do that.

Slim also thinks we should work longer each day, and on the three days per week that we do work under his plan, we'd be working 10 or 11 hours per day.  Don't firefighters already have this kind of schedule?  Maybe they're onto something.

What would you do with all that time off each week?  Time to daydream.  But would your office still function?
