We've all heard the saying that your eyes can play tricks on you. (Remember the Famous Dress and whether it was blue or white?) Apparently that holds true for other senses, such as hearing.  Check out the video that  proves you can't always believe what you hear.

There's a YouTube channel called "ASAP Science" where they post videos explaining different scientific facts in ways  that us non-science people can understand.  This video proves that you can't trust always trust what you hear.

One of the coolest videos they've done recently is about audio illusions, where you hear things differently based on what you're SEEING.  They also talk about something called the "Shepard Tone Illusion."

Basically, if you hear two notes rising at the same time, and they're exactly an octave apart, your brain doesn't notice if the top note suddenly drops down an octave.  So it sounds like the notes keep going up and up forever, even though they're not, and besides, it would be impossible to keep going up forever, but it sounds like it does.
