As the temps start to drop in the Treasure Valley and more people will warm up their unlocked cars in the drive way before they get in, Boise Police want to offer a few tips to make sure you don’t fall victim to thieves. BPD just arrested a man and a woman who stole a truck doing just that. They stole a truck idling in a drive way and took off. The owner actually watched them get in his truck before he called the Police!

So, if you’re going to warm up your car before you get in:

1. Look into getting a second key or key fob so you can lock your doors until you are ready to get in.
2. Install a remote starter, so you can start your car before you go outside.
3. Plan a few additional minutes into your schedule to warm your car and clear the windows if they are iced over.

Whatever you decide to do, just make sure you keep the doors locked to avoid becoming a victim!
