To Shop Or Not

I've recently came under a debate with myself. Yes myself. On whether or not to buy Christmas presents for my friends.

Not that I just want to say screw you to Christmas or anything. I'm just wondering if a gift I'm not even sure they'll like is worth it.

I'm seriously debating this and have been for a month now. Because some of my friends I see all the time and others I only see a couple times a year. What if instead of gift giving, we go back to the roots of Christmas and spend time together. That in mind would it be all right if I had a dinner party or party instead of getting gifts?

I'm truly interested I others thought on this. Because if you all think it's messed up then I will just get gifts. But if you understand where I'm coming from maybe I'll plan a get together, with dinner and drinks provided.
