Dating in general can be such a crapshoot, but the experts say there are ways to be successful at it. Do tell! We're all ears!I've had a profile on Match.com for a few months now, and I'm on a free site called Plenty of Fish too. It's interesting to say the least. People ask all the time if I'm having any luck, and I always tell them I think it's a great way to meet people that I wouldn't otherwise run across. Developing a romantic spark is another matter entirely, but it is a great way to meet people!

So which profiles receive the most attention?

A Redeye article includes an interview with Plenty of Fish, and found out things like education, income, and religion play a significant role in the online dating world. Here are a couple of common features with those who get the most messages:

Women who are 25 years old. Women who are 33 get the fewest messages. Can't change your age though, so oh well!

Women who say they drink often or socially.

Men who earn between $100,000 and $150,000 a year.

Men who have brown hair.

Now don't go lyin' on your profile, and say you're a rich, brown-haired guy just so you have a better chance of meeting 25-year old women who drink often.

I would also add these two things from my experience:

Post a recent picture, and not one when you were younger and thinner in 2003.

Selfies in front of the bathroom mirror are gettin' kinda tired! At least move to the kitchen.

Good luck!
