The Idaho Department of Insurance released the final 2017 insurance rate increases for individual and small group health plans and individual plans are rising 24 percent next year.

The increase will affect individuals or families who buy insurance directly through a carrier or on Your Health Idaho. For employers who have a small group plan, rates are increasing by 4 percent.

95,000 Idahoans are enrolled in the state marketplace and 90 percent of them qualify for a tax credit to help with their monthly premium, which is beneficial when rates jump like they are currently.
