It's no secret I love golf, but even if this is not your sport of choice, you need to get tickets to the 2015 Albertsons Boise Open. Some of the biggest names in golf have come through Boise on the Web.com tour and played at Hillcrest Country Club; Ricky Fowler, John Daily and the current Masters champion, Jordan Spieth! This year you get an extra special treat with two local players getting an invitation to play.

Cpl. Pfeifer, who graduated from Vallivue High School, will make history at the Albertsons Boise Open in July as he will become the first ever amputee to participate in a Web.com Tour event. Cpl. Pfeifer, 33, lost his left leg above the knee in April of 2007 when a roadside bomb exploded while he was on patrol in Iraq. He learned the game while rehabbing in an Army hospital, and golf became a major part of his healing process.

Graysen Huff, a senior at Cole Valley Christian School in Boise, is the reigning Pacific Northwest Golf Association Junior Player of Year and Idaho Junior Player of the Year. He has competed in the Australian Amateur, British Boys Amateur, and the Junior PGA Championship, and plans to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur in late July. Huff, who will also have plenty of support from his teammates and the local community, has signed to play golf with collegiate golf power Auburn University starting this fall.

On top of getting to see amazing golf and future stars, there will be concerts on the course immediately after the last ball drops in the cup. I'm so excited for the Michelob Ultra Rockin’ the Fairway, a three-part live music series!  Marcus Eaton, a Boise native, will play Thursday, July 9th. Local favorite Pilot Error will take the stage Friday evening, July 10th, Saturday’s live music will feature Boise’s own David Andrews Band and will begin at 6 PM. All Albertsons Boise Open ticket holders are granted admission for the live music with their daily or weekly golf ticket.

The Albertsons Boise Open schedule of special events also includes:

  • The Idaho Statesman Junior Clinic moves this year to Wednesday, July 8th at 5:00 PM,
  • free for all junior golfers and their families.
  • Family Day featuring games, mascots, face painting, snow cones, and reptile shows will take place on Saturday from 11 AM – 3 PM.
  • The Free Bisquick Pancake Breakfast for all ticket holders will be Sunday beginning at 9 AM.
  • The Patriots’ Outpost hospitality area, open to all active, retired, and reserve military and their families, will be open Thursday to Sunday beginning at 10 AM.
