If it's a Meal Ready to Eat (MRE) for the troops, it can't spoil, and it has to have a shelf life of two or three years. The average slice of pizza has trouble living up to those standards, but finally, the Army has found a way to make it happen.

Parents, if you're looking for places to unload some Halloween excess and spare your family a few calories, there are several spots around Boise that would love to take it off your hands and do something great with it.  Dentists are collecting candy now, and they'll box it up and send it to the troops, to brighten their day with a little taste of home.

A slice of pizza can last for three years! And if you're in the US Army that's not a bad thing.

The US Army might not be known for it's awesome culinary creations, but at the very least they'd like to make the food better for the troops.  And if you're willing to eat MREs (Meals, Ready-to-Eat) for three solid weeks, you can help make that happen.

Kids don't really need an entire pumpkin head full of taffy, jawbreakers, and chocolate do they?   Oh, but it's hard to let all that goodness go.  Instead of tossing it out, one Boise dentist plans to put the candy to good use.  And you can make a buck off of it.
