Take, for instance, a talented (if not slightly unknown) actress named Jodie Whittaker. If you were to go to Google Trends right now and look up her name, you’d see a sudden spike in searches, indicating that everyone everywhere is suddenly obsessed with learning more about her career. Why on earth could that be?

Like Peter Capaldi before, there’s no reason Doctor Who should wait until Christmas for the next Time Lord regeneration. A new teaser reveals that “Thirteen” will reveal him or herself on Sunday, July 16, after a nice game of tennis.

We won’t see Doctor Who again until the 2016 Christmas Special, even then without perhaps meeting the next companion to follow Jenna Coleman’s Clara, though he or she has apparently already been cast. Peter Capaldi says he’s already begun working with the franchise’s newest actor, perhaps precipitating a formal announcement soon.
