We've been hearing updates about the potential flooding situation and the unusually high river flows for months, and now, officials are looking at the long-game of clean up. It is not going to be easy.
We've been hearing a lot of about the crazy conditions on the Boise River. The colder than normal, faster than normal, higher than normal flow could delay float season, but it doesn't seem it will be cancelled completely.
With warmer weather comes the annual spring melt and runoff from the mountains into Lucky Peak and the Boise River. Almost every year we see some sort of minor flooding and every once in a while that flooding can be more serious and that could be the case this year. These maps might help you out in case that happens.
Now that the warmer temps have graced the Treasure Valley with some mid 60's and low 70's the first thought that goes through my mind, and I'm pretty darn sure you have thought it as well...when does floating season start and will you even be able to get on the river this year? Truth be told it's not looking too promising, and this is why.
Idaho is full of miles and miles of world class white water rafting. I have been down the South Fork of the Boise so many times growing up I can't even count them on my hands and feet. For many who love to raft officials are giving you a warning when you hit the water this summer.
