With just about 3 weeks left of the school year, I'm starting to plan ahead for my son Jaden's summer break activities. He is going to be 12 next month and finding camps and programs to keep him busy to wear him out is my top priority right now.

Here are a few options that I have found in the Treasure Valley:

  • MOUNTAIN BIKE CAMP - This popular summer came by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department is open to kids between the ages of 6 and 12. The camp ranges from trails in the foothills, city riding in Ann Morrison Park, and Greenbelt riding. Get more information and enroll in this camp, and others offered by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department HERE.
  • SUMMER CHAMBER MUSIC CAMP - The Boise State University Summer Chamber Music Camp is a week long camp offered in June that always fills up quickly.  It's a chance for students to practice their instrument with one-on-one instruction. With group lessons in the morning, chamber during the day, and some music theory. You can get more details HERE.
  • SUPER HERO CAMP - If you're looking for a fun and exciting camp for your little one, the Super Hero program might be perfect. It takes place at Bodies in Motion and is offered for kids between the ages of 3 and 7. This camp lets children learn about the amazing skills of super heroes and even lets them create their own character. Everything is designed around a villain and all the kids have to learn how to become more courageous, focused, and self disciplined embodying all the characteristics of super heroes in order to overthrow the villain. The camp also teaches risk assessment and gives kids the chance to learn athletic skills in the process. Learn more about this camp HERE.

Do you have any local summer camps to recommend?
