Although our temperatures are warm and make it feel like summer this weekend, officials are reminding us to stay clear of the Boise River which has been declared hazardous.

The River is running faster and higher than usual (due to increased snow in the mountains), but the water is extremely cold.  The Parks and Recreation Department has closed a portion of the Greenbelt Trail as of Friday afternoon.

There is really no safe use of the River at this point as debris and the fast-moving current create dangerous conditions.

If you do decide to get into the water and need to be rescued, you will be liable for the cost of getting you out.
