Years ago, there was a bumper sticker that said something like, "God grant me patience...and I want it right now!"  I think the same can be said about weight loss and looking for results.  I've been participating in the St. Luke's Weight Loss Challenge since January 11th -- approximately 8 weeks and I'm just now starting to see small changes in my body.  Yep, seriously, just now.

Even though I know better, I'm still attracted to those screaming headlines on magazines for articles that promise "Lose 8 lbs in 8 days" or "Get Your Best Body Ever In As Little As 12 Minutes a Day."  But the reality for most of us is that we're going to lose about half a pound a week...and if we're lucky, we'll lose 1 pound in a week.  So at 8 weeks, I've lost about 6 lbs which is right on schedule.  I should be completely happy with my results..."should be" being the operative term here.  I'm as bad as anybody when it comes to wanting to see immediate results.  I should also state here that it took me almost 3 weeks to lose my first 2 lbs...yep 3 WHOLE WEEKS.  I was about ready to throw my bathroom scale through the window.

Luckily, I didn't.  And even better, I remember some words of wisdom that I saw on a Pinterest post which said something like this:  It takes 4 weeks to start to see movement on the scale. It takes 8 weeks for you to start to notice the small changes in your body...it takes 12 weeks for others to notice.  SO...don't give up.  Don't expect anyone to notice your changes for another month.  Until then, keep up the faith and put down the pastries. Your patience (and mine!) will be rewarded.
