A special tribute at a local hospital to bring healing and hope.

Can you imagine knowing one of your loved ones will never  wake up? Then realizing they'd made a choice to become an organ donor? It would be an extremely difficult thing to go through with so many emotions involved.

One local hospital's simple tribute hopes to make those moments a little bit easier on the family of those who've made such a selfless decision.

St. Luke's hospital in Meridian honors those that have decided to give the gift of life through organ donation with a touching tribute called "the walk of respect".

According to KTVB, It's an idea that started with St. Luke's Meridian ICU Director Deb Compton, and since its inception, has been done for two patients.

When the organ-donor patents are being escorted to the operating room along with their families..."St. Luke's staff - including physicians, nurses, housekeepers, administrators, support staff and others - line the walls of the ICU and connecting hallways on the floor, paying a silent tribute [...]."
