Southwest Airlines Semi-Annual 72 Hour Sale is Underway

It happens twice a year on Southwest Airlines...a 72 hour sale where you can purchase round trip flights for as low as $49 each way...and that sale is on now but you better hurry

The sale got under way this morning (10/10/17 and will continue through Thursday (10/12) at 11:59 p.m. local time in the city of the departing flight. The sale covers travel from Oct. 31 through Dec. 19 and from Jan. 3 through Feb. 14.

The Southwest twice-a-year blockbuster 72 hour fare sale is underway right now with round-trip fares below $100 on many of Southwest’s shortest routes.

The sale also includes other trips with the cost you pay for each trip tied to distance you will travel.

Flights begin at $49 each way on Southwest’s shortest routes and increase to $79, $99 or $129 each way for longer flights.  The highest prices for fares on domestic flights included in the sale is $154 each way.  Check your flights closely, because I was able to find fares even lower that $49 each way for some flights.

Keep in mind flights that originate on Fridays and Sundays are excluded. Unfortunately if you’re looking for fun at Disney World or Las Vegas or Reno, sale fares are good only Sunday through Wednesday for inbound flights and Tuesday through Friday for outbound flights.

If you’re interested on some international routes, they are also included in the sale.  So say you want to get to Belize, Punta Cana or some other exotic warm location, they are also on sale during this period at reduced rates.

Another thing to keep in mind, is that when Southwest begins a sale like this other airlines usually follow suit to compete with routes that Southwest is offering their sale, so check with other airlines to find you may get cheaper airfare there too.
