I’ve been on the air in the Treasure Valley since 2009, and I love hanging out with ya!  We’re always chatting about fitness and exercise, relationships, and workplace experiences, pop culture news, kids, and other things that present huge challenges.  Like online dating!  Maybe Tinder will land me a fella here pretty soon.  If you’re a single mom trying to date hot guys, and also find time to eat, sleep, work, and exercise, I am right there with ya.  We should form a support group.
I was born and raised in the rural town of Elwood, Nebraska with one stop light, a court house, three churches, and a bar.  I’m a Cornhusker, and graduated with a Broadcasting degree from the University of Nebraska, and then worked all over the country in radio, including Lincoln, NE, Austin, TX, Baton Rouge, LA, Tyler, TX, Olean and Elmira, NY, and several places in between.  Oh, and I’ve done radio news in Hawaii.
When I’m not working, I’m usually running.  I try to run between 6 and 9 miles a day because I love that runners high!  I try to eat clean too.  I love shopping, going out for salmon and wine, seeing live music and comedy, and listening to all kinds of music.  I’ve got three daughters, and that means in the late afternoon I’m an Uber mom, taking them to gymnastics, karate, softball, or whatever is in season.  Life is full, and fun!
You are an important part of it.  So thanks for listening, and be sure to drop me an email anytime you feel like it. Make it a great day!

No Homework All Year For These Students

One teacher is getting a lot of attention for a "no homework" policy that she says she's planning to stick to all year long.

She wants kids to play outside, have dinner with family, and get to bed early instead of burying noses in the books at home.  Think it'll catch on?

Back-To-School Takes Over Social Media

If you are on social media at all this week, you will quickly understand that school has started. Boise State is underway, and high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools aren't far behind.

As parents, there is some sort of reflex that makes us mark these back-to-school moments on Facebook, and as you might be able to see in this picture, the kids would rather just hurry up and get to class.

Kids’ Backpacks Shouldn’t Be Any Heavier Than This

School starts next week in Boise, and kids will be cramming iPods, notebooks, Kindles, phones, a change of shoes, snacks, and maybe even a book into those backpacks.

How heavy is too heavy?  If the backpack weighs more than a certain amount, it can knock kids off balance and lead to back problems later on.  Here's the magic number.
