Should She Do This For Her Ex? -OPP

For Other People's Problems, a woman's ex husband and his new wife have asked her to do something life changing for them. She wonders if this is something other people would do for their ex?

I have 3 kids with my ex husband. They are all teenagers. My ex and I get along great. We are much better friends than we were a couple. Since our divorce 8 years ago, we have both remarried. I like his new wife and he likes my new husband. All four of us do a great job co-parenting. My ex and his new wife have been trying to have a baby of their own for the last three years. They have literally tried everything. Well almost everything.
Two weeks ago my ex and his wife wanted to meet with me and my husband. We all sat down and I thought it was something about our kids. Nope. They have done numerous rounds of IVF with no success. The next step is egg donation. That is where we come in. They asked if I would donate my eggs to be used with my exes sperm. They feel that it would be the best option so that their child is a biological sibling to our other children. My husband and I were speechless and told them that we would need to talk it over. They were very understanding and left us a ton of information to go over.
My husband is extremely supportive and says he will support me no matter what. It's my body and ultimately he says I make that decision. For two weeks I have been thinking about nothing else. I'm torn. On one hand, I understand the desire to have a baby and can't imagine the heartbreak of not being able to do that. She has always wanted a child of her own. On the other hand, is this strange? My ex's new wife would be carrying a baby created by my egg and my ex's DNA. Does that scream Jerry Springer? Will this bring up problems in the future? I just want to make sure all the bases are covered before I make this life changing decision. I thought you could share this so that I could hear all opinions and all sides. Things I might not have thought of. I'm curious how many of your 12 listeners would do this for their ex?
