The first national system intended to prevent hobby drones from interfering with planes and helicopters fighting wildfires has been launched. During the Table Rock Fire and the Mile Marker 14 fire, drones forced firefighters to halt their air assault.

Obviously, drones colliding with firefighting aircraft is not good. Planes and helicopters have to be grounded because of drones, which happened over the weekend in California where 10,000 homes were threatened by fire.

It uses smartphone apps to alert drone fliers to temporary flight restrictions over wildfires.

It's such a huge danger for firefighters, not just in the air, but also on the ground because if something happens to a plane or a helicopter it's going to come down, and there's no predicting and no telling where it's going to land.
