I need to make sure my phone is charged at all times! The WPGA could be calling me at anytime! Big day for me yesterday playing golf!In case you hadn't noticed, I am a little obsessed with playing golf these days. Thanks to Kate University classes at Shadow Valley Golf Course, I decided to take lessons and then last summer I started playing actual rounds of golf. This summer I couldn't stay off the golf course! Golf is the most frustrating game ever. This quote sums up golf for me, "Golf is horrifying, humiliating, and humbling, but I can’t wait to do it again."~Kay Goodman. Playing 18 holes I might get one good shot and that ringing in my loins keeps me coming back everytimg! I am the true definition of a beginner golfer. Have you ever seen Tin Cup with Renee Russo and Kevin Costner? One of my favorite lines from the movie is "Such a pretty girl and such an ugly swing!" That says it all. Well as much as I have played I have still never got par....until yesterday! I was playing at Shadow Valley with my girlfriend. It was a a gorgeous fall day. We were bundled up like the Stay Puff Marshmellow Men. Hole #12 has been a favorite of mine since I drove the heck out the ball at a Couples' Chapman there this past summer. I tee off, the ball goes to the right in the trees. Not my best drive. I just want to get out of the trees so I use my 7 iron to get back on the fairway. And that I do, I hit it beautifully; right to the middle of the fairway, a pitch and a putt away from the illustrious par! Of course I am always going for par but if you've seen me play you know what a long shot that is. So back to hole #12. I get up to my ball with my pitching wedge. Now at this point in the story you should know, I have a love hate relationship with my pitching wedge. I've had to unfriend this club on Facebook a time or two but we always come back together. I know I can't survive on the course without it. But that doesn't stop me from "accidentally" leaving it behind at certain holes when it's not behaving. So I pitch and this is one of those rare moments where I love this club! We are in a full blown committed relationship at this moment in time! The balls lands 6 inches from the hole!! Oh my gosh, I think...I could get par! I always count my clubs just to make sure

. Driver-7 Iron-Pitch and all I need is a putt to get par! I line up the arrows on the ball (yes, I do that even 6 inches out), line up with the ball and as always I hear my golf instructor in my head, "Easy Kate. Don't kill it." I hit the ball and.....it goes in the hole!!! I got my first par!! I started screaming and jumping up and down like I was in a Toyota commercial! It was a moment I won't ever forget; November 25th, 2013 2:40PM Shadow Valley Golf Course, Boise, Idaho and I got par! Don't even ask what happened on #13. Glad that hole is on the backside and no one saw me completely fall apart. "The reason a Pro tells you to keep your head down is so you don't see him laughing." ~Phillis Dillar, Comedian.
