Tired of you current job? Looking for something that's more of a challenge? How about protecting the Earth and all it's inhabitants from aliens? If this sounds like you, NASA wants you for their current job opening and the salary is out of this world

If you really think you have what it takes to protect Earth from an Alien invasion among other out of this world duties then you could be exactly what NASA is looking for as their next Planetary Protection Officer! Wait before you get to excited, the job only pays $124,000 to $187,000 per year.

According to the job posting at the website usajobs.gov here are some of your responsibilities:

"The Planetary Protection Officer (PPO) is responsible for the leadership of NASA's planetary protection capability, maintenance of planetary protection policies, and oversight of their implementation by NASAs space flight missions. The PPO also supports the Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Technical Authority and serves as a principal advisory resource for the Chief, SMA and other senior officials on matters pertaining to planetary protection. The PPO is the Agency's focal point for interactions with external organizations on matters related to planetary protection."

I had no idea that this position with NASA has been around since 1967 and that according to an article in Business Insider, the position was created after we signed the Outer Space Treaty of 1967.

Now don't get your butt in a ruffle over actual aliens...the aliens that NASA is talking about are microscopic aliens and microbes that might infect earth...not the actual aliens like those that are currently being hid at Area 51.

In addition to protecting Earth from an alien invasion you also will be in charge of making sure that we earthlings don’t contaminate or invade other moons, planets or asteroids floating around in space
