My Dogs Brought Wildlife Into Our House Last Night

We have had our dog Koda for almost 8 years now, he is a clever and very lovable dog but last night he did something that he has never done before. It was a normal night with Savannah and I having just finished dinner and we decided to watch a rerun of How I Met Your Mother on Hulu.

As we were watching I let the dogs go outside after I fed them dinner and that's when Savannah noticed something different. Koda was digging and looking like he was trying to hide something. In the past he used to hide his dog bones so I didn't think anything of it but he only had soft toys so it should have been a red flag that he didn't have any dog bones to hide.

He was digging around the yard and doing his little prance to showoff. After a few minutes I let both Koda and Gypsy back inside and it looked like Koda had a toy in his mouth. After sitting back down on the couch Savannah asked, "What does Koda have in his mouth". I quickly responded without even looking at him saying it was a toy. Savannah responded with, "No it's not".

It was at this point I looked down at the dog who was only 2 feet away from me and realized he had a dead bird in his mouth. This obviously had been his outside toy as well because this bird was in bad shape even for already being deceased. We spend the next 20 minutes removing the bird from our house and cleaning where he was dropped in our living room.

I remember this once happening when I was a kid at my grandparents house with their outdoor cat, but even after all these years my dog can still catch me by surprise. What is the craziest thing your animal has ever brought home to you?
