Get ready for the possibility of more flooding around the Boise River and Greenbelt areas as water flow is increased from Lucky Peak.

The Bureau of Reclamation will increase flow from Lucky Peak Dam on the Boise River beginning today (Thursday, May 19). The discharge will increase 500 cubic feet per second both today and another additional 500 cfs Friday, and result in flow of approximately 2,800 cfs through the city of Boise

The water will continue to be fast and cold and people are being asked to stay out of the river and use caution when playing near the river.

This increase in flow will provide additional water for salmon migration in the lower Snake and Columbia rivers.

For more information you can visit Reclamation’s Pacific Northwest Region Hydromet website for river and reservoir data at http://www.usbr.gov/pn/hydromet/index.html.
