Dear Mike & Nicole,

My daughter started sixth grade last week and I can already tell that her new teacher is rubbing me the wrong way. After meet the teacher night I got an off feeling but I kept it to myself. After the third day of school my little girl came home upset about how strict her teacher is. She is an older woman who has a very harsh personality and I don't agree with her teaching style. I make a point each morning to pack her a special note of something encouraging in her lunch box. I want to let her know that I am thinking of her during the day, and that she is beautiful and perfect in every way. Her teacher has mocked these notes saying that this is a place to learn real life and not to get a sugar coated idea of what it will be.  When ever my daughter tries to tell her that it makes her feel uncomfortable when  says mean things to her it seems to make her more frustrated. I haven't said anything in front of my daughter because I want her to learn that sometimes in life we will be faced with people we don't mesh with. But on the other hand I don't want it to ruin my daughters love for school and learning and effect her emotionally this year. What do I do? Do I leave it alone, or do I speak up and sit down with her teacher and say something.

Thank you,

Cara in Eagle.
