How can someone so ugly have such a pretty swing? Practice, practice, practice. I had the pleasure of being invited to the Boise Open Media day at Hillcrest Country Club to play a little golf and find out about this year’s 28th annual Albertsons Boise Open.

After playing a round of golf where my team took 2nd place, we were treated to a lunch and Tournament Executive Director Jeff Sanders made a few exciting announcements regarding this year’s Boise Open.

Something totally new has been added to this year’s tournament. This year marks the inaugural Blue Cross of Idaho Birdie’s for the Boise Brave. This year, Blue Cross of Idaho has pledged $40 per birdie made during the tournament…Just for comparison, last year’s tournament saw 1,610 birdies made by the professionals, and so this could be a lot of money.  You can also make pledges at the tournament’s website.

Who are the Boise Brave that benefit? The charities include the Boise Firefighters Local 149 Burnout Fund, Boise Rescue Mission, Mission 43, Veteran Golfers Assn. and Boise Police Activities League.

Tournament week will begin with a special remembrance ceremony hosted by Blue Cross of Idaho on Monday September 11th. The event will include a rendition of “America the Beautiful” along with the raising of the American Flag by a Military Honor Guard. This ceremony is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. and will be held around the tenth tee box at Hillcrest Country Club.

The 28th Albertsons Bose Open takes place this year September 14th through the 17th at Hillcrest Country Club. Listen to Mix 106 to win your free club passes for the week, valued at $70 each!
