Dear Mike and Nicole,

When my wife and I first met, we were both really into fitness. We spent a lot of time at the gym and being active in general.

My wife has gained a considerable amount of weight since we married 6 years ago. I want to get her a health club membership for Christmas to help motivate her. She hasn't asked for one and I overheard her talking to her girlfriend about how she isn't interested in dieting or exercising right now, but I'm hoping I can talk her into getting a trainer to stay on top of her. I know how much happier she would be if she got back to her old self, but I also know how sensitive women are about their weight. Will she appreciate this gift or is it going to be taken as an insult?
