Dear Mike and Nicole,

My husband and I just celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary last month. We don't have any children yet, but hope to start trying next year. The main reason we have decided to wait is because we have been saving for a home. We live in a tiny one bedroom apartment right now while we save for a down payment.

My husband has been taking on extra work over the past year to help us get into our first house together. I've been doing my own extra work too, but he doesn't know about it. Just this past week I finally have saved everything that we needed for a down payment and I can't wait to tell him! I'm worried about how he will take it though because I kept it a secret for about 8 months. When he thought I was going to a weekly book club with the girls or dinner with a friend that was having some relationship trouble, I was actually dancing (if you catch my drift).

I want to tell him that we can finally purchase the house that we have been working so hard for and that he doesn't have to take on so much extra work now to make it happen, but I don't know how to tell him. What's the best way to start that conversation?
