Mike and Nicole’s OPP: My Husband Wants an Allowance

Dear Mike and Nicole,

My husband and I have been fighting as of late because I recently got a promotion and now make almost twice as much as he does. My husband was supportive of the promotion before I got it, but now resents me and my job because I earn more than he does. I think he feels insecure and emasculated. I thought he would love the extra money and freedom it brings us, but he doesn't. He says because I earn more I should start paying a larger portion of our mortgage and bills. He also suggested I give him a small weekly allowance because I make more. Should I be paying a larger share of the mortgage and giving him an allowance?
