Mike and Nicole’s OPP: How Do I Tell My Family?

Dear Mike and Nicole,

I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years as of next month and have yet to come out to my family. I have bought an engagement ring and plan on proposing on our anniversary, but wonder if I should wait until my family knows, or let them know the day I propose. Any advise on how I should go about the situation?
