Over the past nine years, 1555 S. Broadway has been home to four different restaurants.

If you live or work near Boise State, you've known this building as Murphy's Seafood & Steakhouse, The Tilted Kilt and most recently Tap & Cask, which closed without notice in June 2018.  When the restaurant closed their doors, many speculated that a national chain would likely become the next eatery to occupy the space. Six months later, we're pleased to say that's NOT what happened at all.

After originally eyeing the former Tailgate Taphouse space near Ann Morrison Park, local sisters Irma Valdivia and Leticia Valdivia McLaughlin chose the old Tap & Cask building as the location for their third Jalapeno's Bar & Grill.  Inspired by their uncles' restaurants in Arkansas and Oklahoma, the sisters opened their first location in Nampa in 2006 and added a second location near the Boise Towne Square Mall three years later.

The newest location celebrated it's soft opening over the weekend and will operated on limited hours (3-10 p.m.) this Monday, January 7.  Once the ball is in motion, Broadway will operate the same regular business hours as the Nampa restaurant. You can keep up to date with Jalapeno's hours on their Facebook page.

We stopped in for dinner on Friday night and were blown away by the service! Our meals came out so quickly that we thought we had gotten another table's order.  If this is a sign of things to come, we're going to love having the new restaurant right down the street from our apartment!
