I’m Upset Because My Boyfriend Wouldn’t Let Me Move In Until Now

Mike and Nicole,

I have been living with my boyfriend for a year and a half. When I first moved in, my bedroom was planned to be in the basement and his room is on the main floor. This was because we both have daughters from previous relationships that are 7 and 11, and we didn’t want to be bad role models. We were just “roommates” to them for the first few months. Well, now it’s out in the open that we are dating and we have the girls every other week due to sharing custody with our ex’s. I have asked him if I could move my stuff upstairs and he keeps saying that he doesn’t think it’s a good idea yet. Now, I am 8 weeks pregnant. He says he STILL doesn’t think it’s a good idea. I have told him that it upsets me that I feel like we are fully committed, yet I am banished to the basement when our girls are home. What do I do? Am I wrong for feeling like I’m not being treated fairly?
