If Idaho Power is able to convince regulators, be ready for our power to cost a little more.  The average customer's bill would increase $3.58 per month.

The Idaho Public Utilities Commission said it's reviewing two requests from Idaho Power, saying they need to make a "power cost adjustment" which it claims is from factors outside the company's control.

There are two factors that would go into the decision.  The first the result of solar contracts and lower than expected hydroelectric generation.  The second is a an adjustment to allow utilities to recover losses from energy sales declining.

You can comment on the proposed increases at the Commission's website puc.idaho.gove until May 23rd.  The rates could go into effect, if approved, by June 1.
