In December of 2013 a major data breach caused nothing but havoc for shoppers nationwide at Target, and now the light at the end of the tunnel is right around the corner. It was the largest multi-state breach settlement in history. Idaho will get a cut off the payoff as well as 46 other States including the District of Columbia.

The numbers are staggering, and a cool $18.5 million bucks was the damages awarded and now Idaho will receive a check for damages that consumers in the Gem State experienced because of it. A big fat check worth $193,000. The breach according to numbers provided by our news partners KTVB.com was close to 140,000 payment cards where affected of those 280,000 customers in the State had there personal information compromised. I can speak on the fact that having your identity or even info compromised is one of the most time consuming, and frustrating instances ever. Unfortunately it happened to Nicole and me four times in the last 13 years. The first time, some in Pennsylvania tried to spend over $2,300 in Scuba Diving equipment on a bank card of mine. Which to me seemed pretty crazy, who in PA was looking to buy scuba gear during the winter months, was weird. The bank I was with was amazing though, after what seemed like months, it was finally cleared.

Target officials have released the dates of the actual breach back in '13 saying that the days where information was stollen and could have happened to Treasure Valley residents was between November 27th and December 15th. The question I still have is how, and would you feel comfortable going back to a place where this happened in the past? We would love to hear from you. I love me some Target, and not going anymore to find some pretty sweet deals would be devastating. - JD
