I Learned a New Lifehack: Removing Gum from Car Floor Mat

It's probably happened to most of us.  You're going about your business, get into your car, and realize you've stepped in gum and now it's all over your floor mats.  How do you fix it?

I went to my circle of friends knowing that this was one of those situations that many would have encountered.  How best to get it out of the carpet?

There were a number of suggestions.  The most common were to use a hair dryer and paper towel (heating the gum up and then removing as it attached to the paper towel), use ice cubes and freeze it and then "chisel" it off, freeze it in the freezer and do the same thing, or use the computer keyboard cleaner (in the can) and do the freezing that way.

There were also a number of people who recommended using lemon essential oils to help minimize any stickiness leftover.

I decided to try the canned keyboard cleaning air.  The recommendation from my friends was to turn the can over upside down (so that the liquid in the can would come out and freeze the gum).

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical, but I did just as instructed, and within seconds the gum was frozen.  I used a fork and scraped it off).  A quick vacuum treatment, and, it was almost perfect.

Nothing sticky, and only a tiny remnant of the gum (which I'm guessing will come out over time).  Great life hack.
