You may have heard the controversial story from over the weekend about the 4 year old boy who fell into a gorilla exhibit at the Cincinnati Zoo.

He crawled under a rail and through wires before dropping 12 feet into a gorilla cage. Shortly after, a 17-year old, 420 lb male gorilla named Harambe, grabbed the child and drug him through a moat. The child was in there for 10 minutes before the zoo shot the gorilla.

The child was taken to Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He has since been released.

The huge controversy stems from the shooting and killing of Harambe. Many critics believe there should have been more done to protect the gorilla as well as the child.

Jack Hanna agrees with the decision made by zoo officials and stands by the fact that had they not intervened, the child would not have survived.

How do you think the zoo handled the situation? What would you rather have seen happen?
