Idaho veteran Herbert Morrison served in the United States military during World War II, proudly fighting in the South Pacific.

This week he is traveling with 25 other World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. as part of a special trip.

The group of veterans arrived to the Boise Airport early this morning, and quickly began sharing stories with new friends.

For the last five years the Honor Flight of Idaho organization, which is a non profit created to honor veterans, has arranged a trip for local World War II veterans to visit the war memorials in D.C., free of charge. Close to 150 Idaho veterans have been sent free of charge.

The organization hopes it's a reminder that their service is still appreciated, and also an opportunity to have some fun! What an amazing program!
