Homedale K-9 Police Officer Loses Battle with Cancer

It's always tragic to lose a loved one..it's especially sad to lose them to cancer...and it doesn't make it any easier or less tragic, when they have four legs.  Homedale police department says goodbye to one of it's own after losing his battle with cancer.

This is the post on Homedale police department's Facebook page:

"With sadness in our hearts, we are announcing that our K9 officer, Goose lost his battle with a very aggressive cancer. Goose is and was a very valued member of our Homedale Police Department, Homedale community and our Homedale family. Our deepest and most sincere condolences to his human partner Karl and his wife Jane."

It was only a few weeks ago that a Gofundme page was started for Goose and his owners to help with the medical costs associated with fighting the cancer. As of now, even though Goose is gone, those costs and the Go fund me goal have not been met.

You can tell he was loved by everyone in the department including his partner..and apparently, according to his partner, Goose had a special affinity and love for Cheerios: "I feel very fortunate that I walked into the office and was greeted by my buddy goose. He wasted no time squeezing between me and my door and eagerly pushed his way in and strait to my desk drawer, not only is Goose one of the finest Police K9 officers around, he has a very keen sense of smell for Cheerios. He has endured some pretty bad stuff lately, and I feel blessed that I get to share this daily ritual with him"
