There are many citizens in Garden City that aren't too happy to hear that the sale of Plantation County Club is currently pending. A buyer looks to be redeveloping the area and is possibly removing the golf course. According to our friends at KTVB, the redevelopment plan includes a possible strip mall and more residential property.

There aren't many places around Garden City to hit balls on a golf course, and Plantation is the oldest course in southwest Idaho so it's easy for people who have lived here to be sad at the thought of losing the course.

Neighbors of the golf course worry that even if the course stays open there will still be redevelopment that will include the removal of some trees. Opponents are also worried about the added traffic and how the traffic could hurt wildlife in the area.

The Save Plantation Coalition has presented a proposed ordinance to the Garden City Council to preserve open space and limit development on the course. We will make sure to bring you the latest as the story continues to unfold.
